PURPOSE:To attempt to reduce pressure loss by placing the end of impeller vaves and the top of impeller sideplate to the rear of the main plate of an impeller, thereby equalizing the flow rate distribution, making it about equal to the peripheral velocity at diffuser so that the relative velocity is nearly zero. CONSTITUTION:The end of vane 16 of an impeller 1 and the top of impeller side plate 15 comprise the impeller 1 which is placed to the rear of impeller main plate 5 and the casing 12 which is placed over the outside periphery of the impeller side plate 15 with a narrow gap between them. Because the positions of the vane end on the impeller main plate 5 side and of the impeller side plate 15 sidediffer and both are to the rear of the rear of the impeller main plate 5, the flow rate distribution at the impeller exit 9 becomes about uniform. The components of the flow at the diffuser are mostly to the peripheral direction and the velocity is about equal to the peripheral velocity at the top section of the impeller side plate 15. Therefore the relative velocity becomes nearly zero, and thus pressure loss can be greatly reduced. |
