PURPOSE:To perform testing without giving any harmful influence upon an axle system in spite of extension of the axle or connection of a shaft torque meter thereto by applying load to tires without applying load upon the axle. CONSTITUTION:This device is so arranged as to support an axle 4 by means of suspension devices 31, 32, to insert tires 2, 3 of an axle to the axle and to apply the load corresponding to the weight of the vehicle directly to the tires 2, 3. Auxiliary rollers 23, 24 are made vertically movable by means of supporting arms 25, 26, and load is exerted upon between the tires 2, 3 and a drum 21 by means of springs 27, 28. The axle to be tested is not fixed to the ground, and can be moved within the deflection range of the devices 31, 32. The damping effect of the tires acts upon the axle system, thereby generating an oscillation suppressing effect. In the stage of applying the load equal to the vehicle weight upon the tire 3 in order to obtain sufficient torque transmission between the tire 3 and the drum 21, a roller 24 is used to avoid exerting said load upon the axle and to apply the load directly upon the tire. |
