A feed line for rich gas and forced- flow air to a flue 2 is provided by a double-walled tube of ring bricks 6/8 with passages 9/13, the tube extending from the sole flue roof 4 through a mid-feather 1 to terminate in a burner port 3 embodied as a double-walled burner, the inner bore 13 being connected to the rich gas line 14 while the outer annular duct 9 is connected to a feed line for forced-flow air and, where applicable, for combustion waste gas. The double-walled tube construction varies at different heights from the flue roof 4 to the flue 2, but two separate passages are maintained for rich gas from line 14 and forced-flow air from a chamber 16. Flame length and temperature distribution are controlled by the amount of combustion-supporting air that is forced by a blower into the flues through the chambers 16 and passages 9. The proportion of forced-flow combustion air per flue is preferably less than 30% by volume of the total quantity of combustion supporting air. <IMAGE> |
