PURPOSE:To easily correct shifts in printing positions between lines at the time of bidirectional printing and enhance printing efficiency and printing quality, by additionally providing a printer mechanism-controlling circuit with a detecting means for a backlash in a printing head and a correcting means for the backlash. CONSTITUTION:In test printing diagrams (a)-(c), the interval of vertical bars printed in the first line is set to to be 20 dots, while that in the second line is set to be 19 dots. In an example of the diagrams (a)-(c) in the case of using a 24-dot head, numerals are printed by using upper or lower 8 dots, while the vertical bars are printed by using the remaining 16 dots. Therefore, patterns shown in the diagrams (a)-(c) can be printed while the head is reciprocated one time, and a correction value for a head backlash alpha can be directly read at the point at which one of upper vertical bars and one of lower vertical bars are aligned with each other, so that the backlash alpha can be easily corrected. Diagram (a) shows a print example for alpha=0, diagram (b) shown that for alpha=1, and diagram (c) shows that of alpha=-1. |
