A sweeping machine is disclosed including a planar pleated filter and a striking mechanism for removing collected dust from the pleated filter. The striking mechanism includes an elongated strap with resilient pad which overlies the pleated filter. A rotatably driven eccentric weight drives the strap and pad to strike the upper surface of the pleated filter. An industrial filter device is disclosed including a planar pleated filter and a striking mechanism for removing collected dust from the pleated filter.
