PURPOSE:To measure roll gap accurately, by using a roll-gap measuring instrument, provided to the neck-parts of upper and lower rolls, of a contact type one having a special construction. CONSTITUTION:Ring bodies 6a, 6b are provided rotatably to the neck-parts 5a, 5b near barrel-parts 4a, 4b of working rolls 1a, 1b through a bearing 10, and outer rings of the bodies 6a, 6b are locked to a non-rotary part of a rolling mill by locking bodies 7a, 7b. A contact-type distance detector 8 is provided between the bodies 6a, 6b opposed to each other, and a mechanism 9, which absorbs the clearance of a bearing mechanism at the mounted position, is provided to be incorporated with the detector 8 so as to push or pull the ring bodies 6a, 6b. Thus the variation of the mounted position of the detector 8 to the roll is precludecd due to said clearance, then the roll gap is measured accurately by the detector 8. |
