The miniature cassette has a case with a front cover which opens and closes readily on a hinge to protect the tape. Supply and take up reels within the cassette each have upper and lower cheeks and the tape is guided around then by fingers at the ends of the front face to follow a particular track. The lower cheek of the supply reel is toothed and a brake with a finger engages the teeth to prevent inadvertent unwinding during transportation. This finger is displaced when the cassette is loaded into a recording or replay instrument. A pinion gear in an adaptor cassette is driven by a gear in the normal take-up reel position and engages gear teeth on the lower check of the take-up reel to allow operation in a standard size cassette instrument. |
