LIGHTWEIGHT BULK CARGO UNLOADER

PURPOSE:To improve the efficiency of lightweight bulk cargo unloading by placing a truck movably across the hatch opening of cargo-hold compartment between forward and aft in such a way that the wood chips or suchlike bulk materials in the hold can be sucked up onto a conveyor by means of a swinging arm and suction mechanismprovided on the truck. CONSTITUTION:A traveling truck 5 is moved onto a hatch 2 where it is to be employed and an arm 6 is operated to insert a suction tube 7 into the hold 2 so that a suction nozzle 17 is positioned on the top of chip cargo. Then the truck 5 is moved and the arm 6 is turned to move the nozzle 17 fore and aft while actuating a collector-separator 8 to suck up the chips onto a shipboard conveyor via a conveyor 9 on the truck 5. In this case the nozzle 17 is provided with such additional devices as vibrating hammer, stirring blades and compressed air nozzle, thereby loosening the wood chip cargo so that it can be sucked up smoothly. The efficiency of unloading wood chips and suchlike lightweight bulk cargo from cargo-hold compartments can be improved by this system.
