PURPOSE:To provide a coating material for arc electrodes which is free from generation of foam and facilitates build-up welding for repair by containing ilmenite, iron oxide, manganese, limestone, feldspar, etc. in specific ratio in the coating material for arc electrodes. CONSTITUTION:A coating material contg., by weight 15-35% ilmenite, 2-10% iron oxide, 4-9% manganese, 10-18% limestone and 12-25% feldspar wherein the ratio of the total amt. consisting of the amt. of the iron oxide added to the amt. 1/3 that of the ilmenite and the amt. of manganese is within a 1.5-2.5 range, and the total amt. of the limestone and the feldspar is within a 25- 41wt% range is prepd. Further, hydrous ores of at least one kind of mica, talc, kaolin and sericite are compounded at 4-12wt% and rutile at 10wt%. Thereby, the repair weld beads of less generation of blowholes are obtained with good workability. |
