NEW MATERIAL:Carcinostatic substance TF-250 or its salt having the following characteristics: light gray to light brown powder; active to inhibit the proliferation of cells of Ehrlich ascites carcinoma of mouse, Ehrlich nodal carcinoma, sarcoma 180 cancer, and B-16 melanoma cancer; exhibits immuno-activating activity; soluble in water and insoluble in methanol, acetone, benzene, ethyl acetate, etc.; exhibits no definite melting point and decomposes at 165-210 deg.C; positive to Molish, phenol sulfuric acid, indole hydrochloric acid reactions, etc.; elemental analysis, C 30-33%, H 3-5%, N3-5%, etc. USE:Carcinostatic agent. PROCESS:Bacterial strain belonging to Fusobacterium genus, e.g. Fusobacterium nucleatum TF-031 (FERM-P No.5077, ATCC-31,647) is cultured under anaerobic conditions pref. at 7.2-8.2pH and 36-38 deg.C for 1-4 days. |
