PURPOSE:To enable even phosphor films to be formed over the entire lengths of glass bulbs when coating liquid is applied to plural glass bulbs simultaneously by letting the coating liquid to flow down, by supplyig gas with a specified wind velocity from the top openings of glass bulbs. CONSTITUTION:Glass bulbs 3 are installed inside a tray frame 1 upright so that they are placed on a receiving part 2. For example, the bulbs 3 are arranged in 7 to 9 rows each consisting of 10 bulbs. A nozzle 4, which is connected to a coating liquid supply container, is installed above the bulbs 3 so that the device 4 is movable up and down. At first, a given amount of coating liquid is dropped from the nozzle 4 into bulbs 3 of the first row. Then, the nozzle 4 is moved to the second row, and the coating liquid is let to flow down into the second row. At the same time, hot air with a wind velocity of 0.5-2.5m/sec and a temperature of around 35 deg.C is blown out of a blower, and is supplied into the first row bulbs. By the means mentioned above, films each of which has an even thickness over its entire length and which has small variations in their thicknesses can be obtained. |
