PURPOSE:To make capable of using a battery in sea water by providing a metallic bellows the capacity of which is 1.0 to 2.0% of the internal volume of the battery container, which battery utilizes light metal as negative active material and non-aqueous proton solvent as electrolyte. CONSTITUTION:Assembled elements 3 comprising positive electrodes, negative electrodes, and separators are contained in a battery outer box 1 of stainless steel, hermetic sealed cell posts 4 are connected on a battery cover 2, a bellows 5 of stainless steel the capacity of which is 1.0 to 2.0% of the internal volume of the battery container is provided on the battery cover 2, and the battery outer box 1, battey cover 2, and bellows 5 are laser ray welded to bond them in a high vacuum. Then an electrolyte is poured from the top of the bellows 5 and the pouring opening 7 is sealed air-tightly. Thus the volume is controlled sufficiently corresponding to the pressure and temperature differences between inside and outside of the battery, and the improved anti-hydrauric pressure structure can be obtained. |
