A device for cutting timber into pieces in a more effective and energy efficient manner than what has been possible with known timber cutting machinery. The device is comprised of a cutting device in the form of screw spiral equipped with peripheral cutting teeth which are supported by a driven axle, as well as an opposition as support for the timber. This opposition (12) is formed of at lease one chain (14) which extends itself in toward the screw spiral (2) and is located relative to the screw spiral, so that it rotates in a direction against the named parts functioning as a support surface on the side (13) in addition to the chain (14) which is with the given part designed to move itself in the direction against the spiral screw (2) with a speed corresponding to the screw spirals rotational speed and rising feeder speed for feeding in the timber against the cutter device (1), at which the screw spiral (2), for driving the chain (14) is designed to concurrently intervene in the notch (18) in the respective chain's link (19) on the side turned against the screw spiral.<IMAGE> |
