The arrangement is used to compensate for the change in angle of the chassis as the vehicle loading is changed causing the body to move on the suspension. To avoid long cables and dispense with the complexity of hydraulic or pneumatic methods, the headlamp tilt is controlled by an electric motor mounted behind the front grille of the vehicle, midway between the head lamps. The motor has a worm reduction gear which, through a cable, operates a lever to move a pushrod (9), acting on a plate (8) fitted to the headlamp casing. The casing then pivots about a horizontal axle (3), against the action of a spring (5) which tends to point the lamp downward.
|
