A cleansing flux for use when brazing comprises a rod of reagent material (boric acid and salts) bonded by a volatile material of m. pt. 45-120 deg.C, specifically where the binder comprises 7.3-12.5, pref. 8-10% of the mixt. and is an acrylic resin. Esp. for use as 'silver solder' for brazing, to ensure the correct proportions of reagents are present to remove superficial oxides without interfering with the brazed interface. Easier to use than cleaning flux in powdered form without contaminating adjacent equipment. Applicable at temps. of 100-150 deg.C. The binder resin fuses and volatilises to leave no residue.
|
