The felt material covering the roller of an ironing machine used in a laundry, allows the steam to pass through so that it can be drawn off by suction through the interior of the roller. The material consists of a highly permeable base layer and an outer layer of needled felt material. The fibres of the felt material are heat stable up to a temperature at least equal to the operating temperature of the machine. The felt material of the base layer forms between 40 and 80 per cent of the whole covering material and has a minimum weight of 300 g/sq.m preferably more than 500 g/sq.m. This base layer can consist of more than one basic layer. The outside layer is thermostable at 120 deg.C at least, under continuous use. The base layer can weigh about 550 g/sq.m and carry two upper thermostable fibre layers each weighing about 120 g/sq.m.
|
