<p>A mastication machine for working and homogenising moulding materials, includes rubbers, where the working chamber comprises an open ended passage between a stationary base plate having an undulating surface and a top plate with a complementary undulating surface moving with cyclic oscillation between the crests of the base plate profile, producing the effect of a linear peristaltic pump with multiple lobes. Suitable in principle for masticating any dry blend compsn., including powdered or crum materials. Readily accepts a wider range of particle sizes than screwfed machines. Progressive pumping and discharge of the material occurs continuously, in contract to batch mixing in rotary kneading machines.</p> |
