Sheets are conveyed face down from a sheet producing machine. The rear section of each sheet is overlapped by the front section of the following sheet, inside a stacking frame or similar container. The sheets (8,8',9,9'), before their run-in to the stacking frame (14), are guided over a raised threshold to form a wedge space between succeeding sheets. A gas flow is directed against the rear section (6,6') of each sheet of the fanned open sheet run to produce a gas cushion between the sheets. |
