The clamp comprises a sheet-metal band (1), the ends of which overlap one another (Figure 1 shows a plan view). A first clamping jaw (5) is fastened, by means of weld points (7), on the upper side of the band end located at the bottom (radially inward). A second clamping jaw (4) is fastened, by means of weld points (6), on the underside of the band end located on top (radially outwards). The band end located on top is fixed on the band region, located therebeneath, by means of plug-in tongues (14, 15) which engage in pockets (16, 17) which have been stamped out of the said band region. A wedge (3) is driven in between the clamping jaws (4, 5) and presses the clamping jaws apart from one another and thus tightens the band (1). By means of this clamping device, the clamping force is distributed uniformly over the band width (b). The wedge connection permits a rapid connection of pipes and takes up only a small amount of space in the radial direction. <IMAGE>
