A bulldozer apparatus (10) has a primary cutting blade (20) for digging and cutting undisturbed and compacted material (40) and a secondary pusher blade (22), spaced from the primary blade (20), for pushing the material (52) previously cut by the primary blade (20). Heretofore, bulldozers cut and pushed material with a single blade. In such applications, the newly cut material has increased frictional drag as it is forced along the blade and through previously cut material, relative to the frictional drag generated by any material cut by the apparatus of this invention. This drag undesirably consumes and wastes power. The bulldozer apparatus of the present invention separates the functions of cutting and pushing material and thus eliminates much of the frictional drag. |
