<p>PURPOSE:To increase the fixing strength of an ultraviolet transmitting window in an EPROM device by arranging and fastening tabular sapphire cut and formed in an approximate square to a rectangular package so that the side sections are directed along the long sides of the package. CONSTITUTION:In the ultraviolet erasing type EPROM device, a pellet 2 is bonded to the concave section 4 of the ceramic package 3 and connected by wires 7, and the sheet-shaped transparent sapphire 9 is brazing-fixed onto the concave section 4 by low melting point glass 10. The sapphire 9 is formed in the approximate square by cutting (B) a material, which is pulled up in the (a) axis direction and shaped in a narrow plate form, and fastened so that the cut sides 9b are directed along the long sides of the package 3. Since the adhesive property of the cut sides 9b is better than that of the round growing sides 9a, fixing sections and sapphire itself are difficult to be broken even when stress due to the difference of thermal expansion coefficients works in the long side direction, and the device can be lightened, cost can be reduced and reliability can be improved.</p> |
