PURPOSE:To reproduce information with minimum code error rate, by setting the slice level required for the reproduction of a coded information signal to an optimum value in following to the generating state of code error of a reproduction code signal as to a suitable part in a coded information signal. CONSTITUTION:An optimum slice level is supplied to a level comparator 1 via a D/A converter 11 to form a reproducing output character signal through the combination of the comparator 1, a clock reproducing circuit 15 and a sampling circuit 16. In this case, a framing code signal is compared with a framing code signal after confirmation of no error stored in advance in a framing discrimination circuit 2 to detect the code error of the reproducing framing code. In an operation circuit 10, an intermediate value between a maximum and a minimum value represented with a binary code signal representing the boundary slice level from memories 8, 9 is calculated and the binary code signal representing the optimum slice level is set to the intermediate value. |
