Radiation/chemical treatment of textile webs

In apparatus for treating a textile web with liquid and then with radiation, the web is conveyed in the radiation zone by parallel endless chains which are guided in chain guides 14, 15. A web spreading and transferring device for transferring the web to the conveying chains is provided. The chain guides are also combined with mechanisms for adjusting the span width of the conveying chains 12. The irradiation device has an inner radiation screening jacket 20 and an outer screening jacket 5. The channels 13 and 19 for the chain guides in the jackets 5 and 9 respectively are vertically offset in relation to one another and are covered by movable radiation screening blocks 25 arranged on the chain guides 14; 15.
