<p>An apparatus for transmitting electrical signals from an angularly movable part to a fixed part of a machine, includes a plurality of radiation transmitting devices (11) on the movable part and a plurality of radiation sensing devices (15) on the fixed part arranged so that at least one of the radiation sensitive devices is illuminated by at least one of the radiation transmitting devices in all angular positions of the angularly movable part. The radiation transmitting devices are energised by an f.m. modulator (12) and the outputs of all the radiation sensitive devices are summed by a summing amplifier (16) and demodulated by a demodulator (17) to reconstruct the original input signal to the modulator. The apparatus is of utility in situations where the mounting of the angularly movable part is such that conventional signal transmitting means such as slip rings are impracticable. <IMAGE></p> |
