PURPOSE:To enable an apparatus for measuring grinding resistance against traverse grinding of long material to measure tangential grinding resistance and normal one irrespective of grinding position. CONSTITUTION:On a center 4 of a tail stock are mounted sensors 5, 6 for detecting normal load component ft of force and horizontal one fn loaded on a work W being worked. A wattmeter 7 and a tachometer 8 for a grinding wheel 2 are installed to detect power consumption of a motor 1 for driving rotatably the grinding wheel 2 for measuring grinding power P and rotational frequency N of the grinding wheel and apply measured value to the input of a computing circuit 9. Assuming the diameter of the grinding wheel is D and conversion factor of the work to force is alpha, tangential grinding resistance Ft and normal one Fn are figured out according to the following formulas; Ft=alpha.P/(pi.D N),Fn=fn.Ft/ft . |
