PURPOSE:To obtain the title polysulfone-based microporous membrane without losing hydrophilicity by the sterilization with steam by washing a microporous membrane consisting of polysulfone and polyvinylpyrrolidone with a polyhydric alcohol, washing the membrane with water, and then dipping the membrane in an aq. soln. of polyethylene glycol. CONSTITUTION:Polysulfone and polyvinylpyrrolidone are dissolved in a solvent such as N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone to obtain a membrane forming soln. The soln. is poured over a glass sheet, the air with controlled temp., relative humidity, velocity, etc., is blown upon the poured liq. film and the material is immediately dipped in the coagulation bath of water, etc., to form a microporous membrane. The membrane is washed in a polyhydric alcohol such as diethylene glycol to extract the polyvinylpyrrolidone remaining in the membrane, washed with water, and then dried. The membrane is further dipped in the 0.01-5% aq. soln. of polyethylene glycol, and then dried to produce the desired microporous membrane. |
