PURPOSE:To establish a profile detecting device by supporting the tracer shaft with pneumatic static pressure bearings, thereby practically eliminating frictional resistance, and directly detecting values of the tracer shaft displacement in X, Y and Z directions. CONSTITUTION:When a stylus 3 is approached to a slope of the model 21, a tracer shaft 2 receives a reaction force from the surface of slope. This reaction force is supported by static pressure bearings 5, 6 and 7, 8 through the stylus 3. This reaction force is analyzed into components of Z and X directions, and corresponding displacement made by a support cylinder 4, for x component, which slides leftward inside the bearings 7, 8, and by the tracer shaft 2, for Z component, which slides against the bearings 5, 6. The X direction desplacement is detected by joint operation of a movable 17 and a fixed 18 elements, and the Z direction displacement by a movable 15 and a fixed 16 elements. As a result, the frictional resistance is minimized, and smooth parallel movement of the stylus facilitated. |
