PURPOSE:To obtain on a recording paper high quality images without recording noises by applying recording voltage in pulse to the control electrodes and overlapping the voltage of the opposite polarity by the timing of the end of applying the recording voltage in the method to apply voltage of a magnetic fluid recording device. CONSTITUTION:When opposing control electrodes and stylus electrode of a magnetic fluid recording device are matrix-driven and image signals are continuously applied, the voltage -Vp of a recording paper surface becomes larger to the side of minus as the time passes, and it makes fly the ink from a stylus electrode that is not selected, and thereby the quality of recorded images becomes inferior. The voltage wave shape 16b becomes capable of returning swiftly to the original voltage after the voltage -Vp arrives by overlapping a volgage VA to the control electrode as in the pulse wave shape 15b of the control electrode after applying a recording voltage -VG. With this setup recording noises are eliminated and the quality of recorded images is raised.
