PURPOSE:To locally heat only the to-be-cut-off part of a metal material such as a billet on a cutting-off equipment for a hot forging press or the like, by using an induction heater. CONSTITUTION:A material carry-in conveyor 9 coupled to the body 1 of a shearing machine is provided with an induction heatig coil 11 which can be slid on the frame of the conveyor. The coil 11 is shaped as a ring around the carrying passage of the conveyor 9. A material being supplied on the conveyor 9 passes through the coil 11. A sizing unit 8 is adjusted so that the distance between the unit and a cutting-off section (upper cutter 4 and lower cutter 5) is set at a prescribed cut-off dimension. The coil 11 is positioned at the prescribed cut-off dimension from the cutting-off section. When the supplied material 11 is stopped, its part in the coil 11 is locally heated. The heated part of the material is cut off by the shearing machine 1. |
