A blood fractionation apparatus is provided and includes a main housing (30) carrying pumps (78, 80), a cell housing (49) for receiving a disposable blood fractionation filter membrane cell (90), and electrical control apparatus. The main housing (30) has a panel (42) defining a number of slots for receiving disposable blood flow tubing within predetermined slots. The housing (30) carries an occluded vein sensor (82) and a bubble detector (54) for cooperation with the tubing, and a manually operable mode switch (48) is provided for setting control function of the apparatus. The apparatus will cease operating if the mode switch (48) is set incorrectly or if an irregularity is sensed. The apparatus also includes an alarm (200), an alarm muting circuit (248), a tube clamp safety circuit (260), a fail safe circuit (174), other sensors and detectors and a digital display (56). |
