PURPOSE:To secure an easy and assured matching between the upper surfaces of right and left pages of a book put on a book handler and the focusing surface, by moving up and down independently a pair of lift plates supporting the right and left pages independently by the signal supplied from a level detector. CONSTITUTION:The left and right plates 10a and 10b are put down temporarily, and a book B is put on these plates with a desired page opened. Then pressure- sensitive elements 24a and 24b are set right above the center of the left and right pages. Under these conditions, a controller 28 is actuated to drive step motors 16a and 16b. Thus the plates 10a and 10b are moved up independently, and the detection signals are delivered to the controller 28 from the elements 24a and 24b. Then the plates 10a and 10b rise up and stop when the upper surfaces of left and right pages of a book B is coincident with a focusing surface 26. Then the elements 24a and 24b move toward arrows 38a and 38b respectively, and a platen glass 36 moves down. |
