PURPOSE:To omit an address electrode, and to simplify the wiring and to decrease the manufacturing process, by providing a row selection function to a transfer electrode transferring signal charge of a register in the column direction to a register in the row direction. CONSTITUTION:First, a high voltage is applied to a transfer electrode 35, photo sensing picture elements 31d-34d of the 1st row are selected, and signal electrodes of picture elements 31d-34d are transferred to a transfer channel consisting of transfer electrodes 35-38. Next, a voltage clock pulse lower than the voltage at the row selection is sequentially applied to the electrodes 35-38, and a signal charge of selected photo sensing picture element is transferred to a storage electrode 39a for storage. The stored signal charge is transferred to a row register 41 with opened bottom gate 40. Next, the signal charge of the register 41 is converted serially and an output signal of the 1st row is obtained from an output terminal OUT. Similar operation is repeated for the 2nd row and succeeding rows for readout. Thus, the circuit integration is increased since wirings for address electrodes are eliminated. |
