PURPOSE:To perform an accurate, efficient ultrasonic flaw detection by a method wherein a probe putting out ultrasonic waves is attached to a moving unit and allowed to carry out scanning lengthwise and laterally with accuracy, and the test results are stored in paper wound on a rotary drum. CONSTITUTION:An ultrasonic test recorder E incorporates with a flaw detector 10 provided with a cathode-ray tube 9. The recorder E is mounted on a steel plate under test. While a moving unit C is manually transversely moved from one end of a guide bar 2 to the other, a probe 8 is repeatedly vertically moved along a probe guide 7. Then the linear movement of the probe 8 is transmitted to a drum A by a rotary means D incorporated into the moving unit C and the drum A turns by a certain angle. If the probe 8 detects a flaw or defect, it outputs a signal to the flaw detector 10 installed near the recorder E and operates the cathode-ray tube 9 of the flaw detector 10 to display an echo waveform 11 displaying the flaw. At the same time, the probe sends a signal to a printing device 5 installed in the moving unit C to cause the device to record the flaw on recording paper 4. |
