PURPOSE:To provide a flow meter which permits the indirect and direct measurement of a discharge, by a method wherein a coil is wound around an outer periphery of a clear pipe, having a magnetic substance float at the inside thereof, so that a winding pitch increases or decreases gradually moving from a lower part to an upper part. CONSTITUTION:A clear pipe 1 consisting of a non-magnetic substance is placed in a manner to erect it perpendicularly between a lower header 2 with an inlet port 4 and an upper header 3 with an outlet port 5. A spherical magnetic substance float is mounted in a flow path 6 of a pipe 1, and a coil with terminals 7a and 7b is coiled around the outer peripheral surface of the pipe 1 so that a winding pitch decreases gradually moving from a lower part to an upper part. This constitution causes a float to move vertically depending on discharge, and permits the visual measurement of the floating position. Simultaneously, through the measurement of the reactance of the coil 7 or of a change in the reactance on the basis of the terminals 7a and 7b, a discharge can be measured indirectly as well. |
