An LCD television receiver (Fig. 3) contains in its housing (2) a liquid-crystal display element (1) in a reflecting embodiment, whose image appearing in the image gate (3) of the housing is to be viewed through magnifying optics (4). In use, the magnifying optics are held by a support device (5) at a distance from the housing (2) such that light from the surroundings can fall from above onto the image surface of the display element (1), so that optimum use of the reproductive power of the LCD display element is provided. <IMAGE>
