PURPOSE:To greatly increase the bringhtness of a display part for a gust-host effect type liquid crystal display body that performs a matrix display, by using a black liquid crystal composition and a color polarizing plate. CONSTITUTION:A black liquid crystal composition is compoounded with a black coloring matter (also effective with a black color obtained by combinin three coloring matters of blue, red and yellow) and has the absorbing anisotropy over almost enture range of visible rays. In addition, a color polarizing plate (such as a blue polarizing plate obtained by giving a uniaxial orientation to the polyvinyl alcohol compounded with congo red-C.I.-518) having the polarizing properties in a specific wavelength range of the visible rays. In other words, a metallic electrode 3 having exceellent reflecting properties is formed on a semiconuctor substrate 1 containing a liquid crystal driving element and then set opposite to a glass plate 5 containing a transparent electrode 4. Then the above- mentioned gust-host type black liquid crystal composition (9: liquid crystal; 8: coloring matter) is enclosed between the electrode 3 and the plate 5, and the above-mentioned color polarizing plate 7 is provided outside the plate 5. Thus a liquid crystal display matter is obtained. |
