The invention relates to a plucking attachment for cob harvesting machines, in particular for maize cobs, having at least one plucking device, which has an entry gap (10), and having associated conveying means, generally conveyor chains (14), behind which is arranged an onward-transfer device (16), generally a cross conveyor screw, for the plucked cobs. In order to be able to detect and eliminate torn-off plants, stalks or entire maize plants before they are transferred to the onward-transfer device, so that they do not enter the cob harvesting machine, a cross conveyor track (22) for torn-off stalks running transversely to the entry gap (10) is arranged over the end of the conveying means (14) and in front of the onward-transfer device (16). <IMAGE>
