PURPOSE:To ensure that only one set of driver is required for driving a head and achieve a smaller and more inexpensive electrostatic printer, by using a rotary electrode provided with a spiral projecting part on the outer peripheral surface thereof, in place of head pin electrodes. CONSTITUTION:A rotary electrode 10 is rotated at a fixed speed in the direction of an arrow A by a motor 50. With the rotation, the point at which the tip of a spiral projecting part 11 is closest to a counter electrode 5, that is, the closest point is moved in the direction of an arrow B along the counter electrode 5. A timing sensor 20 detects the position of the closest point of the tip of the spiral projecting part 11 and the counter electrode 5, and sends the information to a positioning signal input device 40. On the basis if the information obtained from the sensor 20 and a printing position signal inputted from a controller, the positioning signal input device 40 outputs an energization signal to the rotary electrode 10. |
