The invention relates to a process for the production of knitting tools, especially of compound or bearded needles. The aim of the invention is the production of knitting tools in large quantity and of uniformly high quality. The object of the invention is to provide a process for the production of knitting tools, in which a high quality can be obtained by an exactly defined position of the various working faces in relation to one another. This object is achieved in that one end of a blank in the form of a cylindrical pin is reduced in cross-section to a rotationally symmetrical tip corresponding to the diametral profile of the needle head to be bent, thereafter the shank of the blank is simultaneously equipped with a technological reference base and grooved, and subsequently plane side faces are cut in the shank in the region of the groove and the tip of reduced cross-section is bent and curved to form the needle head. <IMAGE>
