For the ventilation and air extraction of rooms, gratings are inserted into the incoming-air and outgoing-air orifices, in order to direct and guide the air streams. The labour and stock-keeping for the production of gratings of different sizes, with all the individual parts in a form ready for use, involve a high outlay. To reduce the labour for the production of different grating sizes and to lessen the outlay in terms of stock-keeping, there is proposed an incoming-air and outgoing-air grating which has slats, fastened to a frame, for directing the air streams, and in which the slats are combined to form prefabricated modules and can be inserted into the frames at a later date. Slat modules can be plugged into the frame and be held by a positive connection. Less common frame sizes can be produced in a short time and be completed with the slat modules. The slat modules consist of slat bars and holding bars which are put into the frame and which are secured against vertical displacement by bent-round retaining tongues.
