A load-dependent dual circuit brake system is proposed, which has a load-dependent brake pressure control device (15) by means of which the brake pressure in one brake circuit, preferably in the rear axle brake circuit, can be adjusted to the vehicle load. Parallel to the brake pressure control device (15) a 3/2-way control valve (17) is provided which, in the event of failure of that brake circuit not monitored by the brake pressure control device (15), short circuits the brake pressure control device (15), in order to ensure an undiminished brake pressure in the brake circuit still intact.
