The invention relates to a signalling device (II) intended to be placed on a vehicle and consisting of a casing 1 containing a product which can be discharged under the action of control means and released in the form of a brightly coloured cloud intended for the signalling. This device is notable in that, on the one hand, the abovementioned product is an orange-coloured smoke generator contained in an interchangeable cartridge 2 and, on the other hand, the abovementioned means for controlling the discharge of the said smoke generator consist of an igniter 4 associated with the cartridge 2 and the percussion system of which is triggered mechanically under the effect of the displacement (arrow F3) of a movable mass 12 guided in a sleeve 13 or under the effect of a tensile force exerted (arrow F1) by a cable 7 connected at its opposite end to a manual gripping member placed within the reach of the driver of the vehicle. <IMAGE>
