PURPOSE:To prevent occurrence of vibration and noises by a pump and to reduce the entire size of the pump, by connecting a suction pipe to a peripheral wall of a hollow cylindrical member, and connecting a discharge pipe to a volute chamber formed at the lower end portion of the hollow cylindrical member and incorporating therein an impeller. CONSTITUTION:Water supplied from a suction pipe 2 at an upper portion of a hollow cylindrical member 1 is drawn into an impeller 5 which is turned by a main shaft 8, converted into pressure energy in a volute chamber 4, and then carried above the floor via a discharge pipe 9. Since, with such an arrangement, water flows into the impeller 5 directly from the above in the manner of reducing the resistance of water flow, water is introduced into and discharged from the pump smoothly, so that production of noises and vibration by the pump can be prevented. Further, the entire size of the pump can be reduced by decreasing the distance between the suction pipe and a water drawing portion. |
