Novel tri-mixed alkylsulfonium salts of N-phosphonomethylglycine are disclosed herein, having the formula
<Chemistry id="chema01" num="0001"><Image id="ia01" he="21" wi="59" file="IMGA0001.TIF" imgContent="chem" imgFormat="TIFF" inline="no" /></Chemistry>in which R<Sub>1</Sub>, R<Sub>2</Sub>, and R<Sub>3</Sub> represent C<Sub>1</Sub>-C<Sub>5</Sub> alkyl and n is zero or one, wherein no more than two of R<Sub>1</Sub>, R<Sub>2</Sub> or R<Sub>3</Sub> are identical. The compounds are useful in regulating the natural growth or development of plants and as herbicides.
