PURPOSE:To carry out a 2-dimensional correlation operation in real time, by detecting the coordinates with which the correlation coefficient becomes maximum as a tracking point and defining the arithmetic region of the correlation coefficient to a frame (i+1) based on the distances and the azimuth from the frames (i-1) and i. CONSTITUTION:The picture signal given from an image pickup device 4 mounted on a servo rack 3 is converted into a digital signal by an A/D converter 5. A tracking window is set within a viewfield of the device 4 and then stored in a memory 8 by means of a switch 7 in the form of a reference signal. A new picture signal given from the device 4 is supplied to a buffer memory 9 via the switch 7 and then supplied to a multiplying/adding circuit 10 along with the reference signal given from the memory 8 to calculate the correlation coefft. During this calculation, the operation region is limited by a correlation arithmetic control circuit 13, and the maximum value coordinates is detected by a maximum value detecting circuit 11. Then the distance and the azimuth are calculated for the frames (i-1) and i, and an operation is carried out in real time to the frame (i+1). |
