PURPOSE:To obtain a natural simple electrolyte membrance of a fuel cell, by using a sheet-like substance composed of fiber-like ion exchanger for the electrolyte membrane in a fuel cell. CONSTITUTION:Polyethylene is mixed with a styrene-divinyl benzene copolymer or the like to make a mixture, which is made react in order to form a pulp-like polybranched ion exchanger. A wet pulp-like paper and nickel net as electrode are pressed, then dried in order to constitute an electrode-attached electrolyte membrane. A container 1 is separated into two parts by disposing the electrode-attached sheet-like ion exchanger electrolyte membrane 2 at the center of the container. Lead wires 5 are drawn out of the upper part of a electrodes 3 which are attached to the both sides of the membrane 2 through neoprene rubber 4 serving both as a lid and an insulator. A filtering paper 6 is drawn out of the lower part of an electrode 3 through the neoprene 4 and said filtering paper 6 is dipped into a potassium hydroxide aqueous solution which is installed at the lower part of the container 1. Next, O2 and H2 gas are fed into the both chambers separated by the membrane 2. With the aid of the sheet-like soft matter used as electrodes, a large amount of the electrolytic solution can be easily kept as well as the assembly of the electrode can be facilitated. |
