PURPOSE:To provide a printer which can feed paper without installing a separate paper feeding motor, by a method wherein a serial printer which scans a printing head using a linear motor is provided with a moving direction changing mechanism for the printing head scanning linear motor. CONSTITUTION:If a transferring body 2 of a linear motor holding a printing head 1 is moved from the home position towards a frame 4, a lever 3 attached to the transferring body 2 pushes an end 8 of a rotary lever 7 and rotates the rotary lever 7 about a rotation shaft 9. Then an end 10 of the lever 7 is moved in arrow 14 direction and a paper feed lever 11 having a notch 12 engaged with the end 10 is moved in parallel in arrow 17 direction along guide grooves 15, 16, thereby a ratchet gear 20 fixed concentric with a platen 19 is rotated by a top end 18 of the lever 11 and paper feed is effected. |
