At the high-pressure end of the compressor oil under pressure is supplied to bearing chambers (28a, 28b) whence some of the oil flows into the rotor chamber through gaps (32a, 32b) between the rotor shafts and the housing (11). Oil also flows through a passage (42) in the female rotor from the bearing chamber (28b) into a pressure chamber (38) at the low-pressure end of the said rotor for balancing the axial thrust caused by the oil in the bearing chamber (28b).
