PURPOSE:To prevent the deterioration of characteristics and yield rate, by a pattern providing a projection only at a part bridged over a taper of a magnetic substance layer with a conductor layer of a thin film magnetic head formed on a nonmagnetic substance base. CONSTITUTION:The 1st magnetic substance layer 2 and insulation layer 3 are formed on a nonmagnetic substance base 1, and a conductor layer 4 of a desired pattern is formed on it. In this case, a projection 4 is formed at a part where the conductor layer 4 is bridged over a taper 2a of the 1st magnetic substance layer 2. The 2nd magnetic substance layer 7 is formed into a desired pattern via an insulation layer 5 on the conductor layer 4, and the 1st and 2nd magnetic substance layers 2, 7 are brought into contact with a window 6 provided with the insulation layers 3, 5 to form a magnetic head core. The core is cut at line A-A and polished to form a gap 8. Thus, excessive etching is not given to the conductor layer 4, allowing to prevent interruption and deterioration in characteristics. |
