PURPOSE:To improve decorativeness through smooth finishing of the projecting parts of surfaces by butting and supporting the end edges of both metallic plates on the hollow groove of a backing strip, and sagging the same in such a way that molten metal projects into the hollow groove then welding these. CONSTITUTION:The surfaces 3a of metallic plates 3 are brought into tight contact with the abutting surface 60 of a backing strip 6, and both end edges 30, 30 are opposed and are set over a hollow groove 61. Next, a torch 5 is moved in an arrow direction along the weld line of the edges 30, 30, whereby copying welding is accomplished. At this time, the blank material metal melted by the welding flame of the torch 5 injected from the outside circumferential surface 3b of the plates 3 sags slightly into the groove 61, thereby forming a projecting shape 3c on the inside circumferential surface 3a which comes to the front side and a hollow groove 3d on the outside circumferential surface 3b which comes to the rear side. Next, if the projecting line 3c is ground or polished, the flashes and the like are thoroughly removed simultaneously, and a smooth surface 3e leaving no traces of welding is finished. |
